Learning Support

 

The ESD 105 Learning Support Department offers the following programs to assist school districts and community partners in creating learning environments that are safe, civil, drug-free and intellectually stimulating places to work and learn:

Community Mobilization Working with other organizations to create and sustain healthy, safe, and economically viable communities that are free from alcohol, tobacco, drug abuse, and violence.

Education Advocate Assisting juveniles previously incarcerated in county detention centers or juvenile prisons to successfully transition to community schools, vocational training, college, GED programs or jobs. Parent Involvement Programs Offering trainings and workshops to build partnerships among homes, schools, and communities to increase student success.

Prevention/Intervention Services Providing programs and referalls to help students resist the pressures to use alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.

School Nurse Corps Coordinating RN services to small school districts and offering information on student health issues throughout the region.

School Safety and Crisis Management Offering training, planning, and assessments for school administrators and security officers in establishing a safe, disciplined, and drug-free environment.

Yakima County Prevention Providing training and information on preventing the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.

Learning Support Lending Library
The Learning Support Lending Library offers materials available for check-out for school districts and agencies that are members of our Safe and Drug-Free Schools Consortium. The library contains resources in a variety of formats (kits, videotapes, books, manuals, and guides) and can be to checked out by contacting Erin Balch, (509) 454-5304. Materials are available for the following areas:
