Language Acquisition Cooperative
The ESD 105 Language Acquisition Cooperative offers its members a variety of professional development opportunities that support teachers in responding to the needs of English language learners and limited English-proficient students. Professional development on the process of acquisition as well as research-based instructional strategies that increase English language proficiency and academic language is available for members of the Language Acquisition Cooperative.
Increasing students’ academic language is an essential instructional objective for teachers of all content areas and grade levels. Districts are using the Cooperative to provide teachers with assistance to develop students’ academic language in middle school and high school, and increase content comprehension in math and science.
