The Service Delivery Plan includes separate goals in Reading, Math, Readiness and Graduation, action steps are interwoven. The Migrant Education Regional Office provides literacy support throughout the goals of parent empowerment, graduation, early childhood and math as well as reading and writing.
The specific literacy goals of the Service Delivery Plan are to:
- Increase migrant students reading scores on the state assessment.
- Increase the percentage of migrant families who actively support literacy development in the home.
Readiness Goals and Early Childhood Education
The Service Delivery Plan includes a goal designed to raise the kindergarten readiness skills of migrant children and increase their participation in preschool programs. The Migrant Education Regional Office provides literacy support by training preschool providers serving migrant families, on stages of second language development. This type of training is also made available to migrant parents as a means of helping their migrant student be more prepared as they enter the schools in their districts.
