About ESD 105
Educational Service District 105 supports the learning success of more than 60,000 students who attend the 25 public school districts and 23 state-approved private and tribal schools we serve in South Central Washington. As a service agency, our purpose is to meet the expressed needs of local school districts by coordinating and conducting cooperative programs that benefit the educational needs of the young people in the four counties we serve.
Our cost effective and cooperative approach brings this region about $30 in services to schools for every $1 in state core funding we receive. Our resource leveraging capabilities make us a unique partner in education.
As one of nine ESDs in the state of Washington, ESD 105 carries out liaison activities between local school districts, the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, and the State Board of Education. ESD 105 has approximately 120 employees, and our agency is governed by a seven-member lay board of directors.
We work in a cost-efficient manner to:
• Achieve school and student success
• Create safe and healthy learning environments
• Implement and manage cooperatives for services of mutual benefit to our districts
• Introduce educators to new research and creative ways of teaching and learning
• Provide administrative, business and financial support services to districts
• Offer innovative professional development and training based on district needs
• Make available new technology
Our regular business hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.
Cooperative Services
ESD 105 implements and manages several cooperatives that help schools save money while providing access to services they may not be able to offer on their own. Our effective resource leveraging capabilities allows us to pool public and private support to secure new resources for our region.
We develop our programs based on school district need. By building networks and cooperative arrangements among districts and other agencies, here are some of the cooperatives through which we offer centralized services:
• Computer Network Services
• Data Processing
• Instructional Improvement
• Language Acquisition
• School Bus Driver Testing
• Science Education
• Special Education (Occupational Therapy, Hearing, Vision, and Autism)
• Unemployment Insurance
• Workers' Compensation
• Listing of cooperatives by school district (from ESD 105 Annual Report)
