Pupil Transportation

Our regional transportation coordinator provides essential services for the safe transportation of students at 72 school districts in ESD 105, ESD 123, and ESD 171, which covers all of Central Washington. We are a member of the Washington Association for Pupil Transportation (WAPT) and serve as a liaison between OSPI, school districts, and other state agencies and local governments.

Our Services:

SchoolbusWe host monthly supervisor meetings that enable the districts to participate and discuss what is happening in the transportation industry. All of the districts are kept informed of any changes and updates in the procedures required by the state.  Chapter supervisors meetings are the second Wednesday of the month, from October to May.

Our office has a video library primarily containing material for drivers that cover all aspects of driving a bus.

School districts may check out our two miniature mechanical buses (Buster and Barney) that demonstrate to younger kids how to be a safe bus rider.

Every October the districts turn in their ridership information to get their funding for the year. Our office audits schools' ridership data and assists the districts throughout this process.

The Pupil Transportation department was instrumental in developing S.M.A.R.T. (Standardized Mutual Aid Response Team) training and C.S.R.S. (Child Safety Restraint System) training. These trainings are available on an as-needed basis.

Each spring, we sponsor WAPT's annual ESD 105 regional School Bus Poster Contest.  Teachers are invited to have their classes submit artwork on specifified bus safety themes, with awards given toward the end of spring in K-2nd, 3rd-5th, and 6th-8th grade divisions.  Regional winners advance to the state competition.

We also sponsor the annual School Bus Road-eo toward the end of each school year.  School bus drivers show off their maneuvering skills and safety knowledge for cash prizes and advancement to state competition.

Our School Bus Driver Testing Cooperative provides federally mandated random, pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing for Commercial Drivers License (CDL) holders of school districts.

We also provide extensive phone support to the districts and make district visitations as requested.
