Literacy

LETRS_CathyBThe programs in reading and writing literacy at ESD 105 provide deep foundational trainings in understanding how students learn to read, write, and spell. We also assist teachers in applying assessment data to design and implement strong learning curricula in their classrooms.

ESD 105 Literacy Cadre

The ESD 105 Literacy Cadre, introduced in 2007-2008, offers training and follow-up sessions to help increase the capacity for literacy leaders in schools and districts to incorporate scientifically-based reading instruction for all students. This program is designed to provide the coaching skills needed to create building and district literacy leaders out of participating reading coaches and specialists, classroom teacher leaders, special education teachers, and administrators.

Programming for 2007-2008 is on an overview of all the LETRS modules, engaging participants in researrch-based instruction in the five components of reading: phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.
