Migrant Administrative Services

The MERO director assists school communities in the exploration, understanding and implementation of specific federal and state programs that support student learning and parent involvement, based on established regulations and guidelines. Services are available for the following areas:

• Early Childhood Programs
• End-of-Year Reports
• Migrant Grant Applications
• Program Monitoring and Compliance
• School-wide Program
• Summer School Planning Framework
• Title I Part C/Migrant
• Title III and State Bilingual

Migrant Education Program Resources

Washington State Transitional Bilingual Instructional Program, with the involvement of parents, educators, and community, is committed to address the unique needs of students from linguistically and culturally diverse backgrounds and to help them achieve the high content and performance standards expected of all students in the state of Washington.

The Migrant Student Data and Recruitment Office (MSDR) is a statewide migrant education program that advocates for and provides quality support services to meet the needs of migrant families. The MSDR identifies and recruits migrant families, develops and maintains a web-based student data system, and provides technical assistance and coordination of services with local state, regional and national educational/community agencies.

The Office of Secondary Education for Migrant Youth (SEMY) serves schools throughout the State of Washington. Their mission is to give secondary, school-aged migrant youth the opportunity to succeed. SEMY offers professional development to:
• Build internal capacity to meet needs of at-risk students in general, migrant students in particular.
• Promote more effective intervention with all students through specialized strategies.
• Reflect current research.
• Mobilize all available resources through action planning across job classifications.
• Meet individual school needs.
• Support goals and priorities of your School Improvement Plan.

Workshops available:

Content ESL: Program models that are most successful are intentionally integrated into the School Improvement Plan. School leaders who are responsible for providing critical imput into their SIP need clear guidelines to the essential ESL "keys." This workshop will provide planning and implementation guides to school leaders who are begining their SIP Instructional Models, as well as those who are ready to expand and improve their scope for ELL students.
