Register Now for Free Media Literacy & Digital Citizenship Courses from OSPI
Three self-paced, asynchronous courses are now available for Washington state K–12 educators interested in Media Literacy & Digital Citizenship instruction. These are revised versions of courses that were offered earlier this school year.
- Media Literacy & Digital Citizenship 101 (Spring 2025–26): Participants can earn up to 8 clock hours for completing modules that introduce: the definitions of terms used in the course; the evolution of Media Literacy and how it’s responding to the emergence of generative AI; the range of skills encompassed by Media Literacy & Digital Citizenship; and two instructional approaches. ospi/catalog/203550 - Media Literacy & Digital Citizenship Grades K-5 Resources (Spring 2025–26): Participants can earn up to 8 clock hours for completing modules that introduce the free resources available from Be Internet Awesome, Common Sense Media, and MediaSmarts, followed by a fourth module that compares the collections. Access to the Canvas courses will be provided after registering on pdEnroller. Course work can be submitted at any time before June 24, 2026. Please note that the clock hours are not STEM clock hours.
