Next Generation Science Standards
The Next Generation Science Standards were adopted as our Washington State Science Learning Standards in October 2013. These standards are the blueprints for the science learning your student will have access to from kindergarten to their senior year of high school. Teachers in our region are working consistently to implement new lessons and activities to support the new standards.
What's different about these science standards?
- Students investigate and explain scientific phenomena "doing science" like real scientists.
- Solutions for engineering problems will be designed and tested.
- Teachers will help students make sense of what they learn through group discourse and probing questions.
