Language Acquisition program brings Dr. Andrea Honigsfeld for 2-day July workshop

Dr. Andrea Hongsfeld Coming to Yakima from New York's Molloy College, the ESD 105 Language Acquisition program is bringing educator and author Dr. Andrea Honigsfeld to our area for a special two-day workshop in July centered on collaboration and co-teaching.

Dr. Honigsfeld co-wrote the books "Co-Teaching for English Learners" and "Collaboration and Co-Teaching for English Learners: A Leader's Guide."  Her work is frequently referenced by OSPI in best practices materials, and her two workshops here will connect with the design of our English language proficiency standards and the Elnglish Language Proficiency Assessment.

Tuesday-Wednesday, July 17-18:  Collaboration and Co-Teaching to Integrate Language and Content Instruction for English Learners — For general educational teachers and ESL/EL specialists, this workshop will examine critical conversations, action planning around collaboratie practices for english language learners, and seven co-teaching modles for K-12. 

The training will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the ESD 105 Student Success Center's Lower Level, and attendees will receive a copy of one of Dr. Hongsfeld's books.  Cost for this two-day training is $400.
