High school students: Applications now open for the "Unleashed" newspaper program!

Are you an incoming high school student with some writing, photography, and illustration talents that you'd like to take into the next level for a public audience?

Do you KNOW an incoming high school student with those types of skills who is deserving for the chance to have their work published in the largest newspaper of the ESD 105 region?

Applications are now open through Friday, August 17, for the 2018-2019 edition of the Yakima Herald-Republic's "Unleashed" student journalism team!  The Unleashed section provides an opportunity for students to expand their skills by producing material that appears as a monthly Sunday section in the newspaper.  Students are able to share their voice by producing material ranging from the school scene, reviews of popular culture, opinions on issues important to youths, and life in their home communities.  In addition to the monthly Sunday "Unleashed" section, student work ca also periodically appear in the newspaper's Thursday "Scene" section and other editions of the newspaper.

You can see some of the latest student-generated work from the Unleashed team online at:  www.yakimaherald.com/unleashed/.

Unleashed is supported as a cooperative overseen by Educational Service District 105 in partnership with the program's member high schools.  High school students selected for the Unleashed program must commit to producing a specified number of published assignments during their year on the team, and must attend twice-a-month group meetings at the Herald-Republic office.  Students are provided payments for their published work.
