School-Based Behavioral Health Internships

Launch Your Career Where It Matters Most

Every day, students walk into our schools carrying more than backpacks—they carry anxiety, trauma, grief, and the everyday struggles of growing up in a complex world. ESD 105’s internship program puts MSW, MHP, and BSW students directly in the middle of that work, providing real counseling and intervention services to kids who need it, in the place they spend most of their day: school.

This isn't a desk-bound, paperwork-only placement. Interns join our School-Based Mental Health team to deliver individual and group counseling, support crisis intervention and safety planning, lead classroom wellness lessons, and engage with families and school staff as part of a true multidisciplinary team. You'll help students build the skills that change the trajectory of their lives: recognizing triggers, developing healthy coping tools, building distress tolerance and emotional regulation, repairing peer relationships, and healing from trauma.

Why Intern with us:

You'll gain direct, hands-on clinical experience working with real students and real challenges, under the guidance of experienced, licensed supervisors who are invested in your growth, not just your hours. You'll work across a genuinely diverse caseload, supporting students from elementary through high school, with a wide range of presenting needs. And you'll be embedded in a collaborative culture where therapists, school counselors, teachers, and families work as partners, so you'll learn what integrated, community-rooted behavioral health actually looks like in practice—not just in a textbook.

For many of our interns, this placement becomes the foundation of a career: several go on to join our team as full-time clinicians after graduation, already knowing the students, the systems, and the mission.

If you're an MSW, MHP, or BSW student looking for a school-based internship that offers meaningful clinical hours, strong mentorship, and the chance to genuinely change a young person's path, we'd love to have you on our team.
