Washington State Designated Crisis Responders
If a youth is experiencing a severe emotional or behavioral health crisis that puts their safety at risk, a Designated Crisis Responder (DCR) can be called to assist. The care is coordinated through our region's state-designated behavioral health facilities, which dispatch trained mental health professionals to provide an immediate safety check-in. They evaluate the situation with a lot of care, help lower the stress of the moment, and work closely with families to find the best immediate care options—whether that means setting up local support at home or finding a safe place for them to get professional medical care.
